A Seinfeld Reunion?

Seinfeld Cast

A Seinfeld reunion in the works

Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander (George) were recently seen at Tom’s Restaurant, a place where many scenes in Seinfeld took place.  When Jerry Seinfeld made an appearance on Boomer and Carton he was asked questions about this encounter. He explained a reunion was in the works, but it wasn’t for the Super Bowl.

Seinfeld went on to explain that it was “a secret project,” and confirmed other cast members were included. So while we don’t know what’s going on there is a possibility for Seinfeld to return, but will it be just an episode, a season, a short? Hard to say, but at least we can enjoy the fact that Seinfeld is returning some way some how.

The 12th Doctor, selling coats like crazy

12th Doctor Costume

The 12th Doctor, Selling the Crombie coat.

With the reveal of Peter Capaldi’s outfit in Doctor Who, fans all over instantly  noticed the comparison to the Jon Pertwee’s, 3rd Doctor, outfit.  Fans everywhere were excited to see not only Capaldi’s take as the Doctor, but also the tribute to his Doctor that he watched when he was younger.

Then people started to notice the Crombie coat Capaldi was wearing. Even though he has yet to appear in this outfit fans are already heading to Crombie’s stores in London, Manchester, and Edinburgh to pay 800 pounds for their coats. The more devoted fans are paying upwards of 3000 pounds to get the red silk lining you can see on the inside of Capaldi’s coat.

Sells for their coats increased by at least two fold with over half of the recent purchases made with the more expensive red silk lining. So while fans are still waiting for Doctor Who, they are enjoying the fact that they can at least look like him with his fashionable coat.

All Gamers can be happy with 2013

Is this a good sign for gamers in 2014

All gamers rejoice

There has been lots of talk of how all the consoles have been doing especially since the release of thePS4, and the X-Box one; however, there is also a lot of confusion in the news as to how they have been doing. You hear news that the PS4 made the most sells, but the X-Box one made the most money ect. If you look at all the information though there is success for all the video game companies.

PS4/Vita

The PS4 had a bit of a rough start simply because of some hardware issues when several gamers tried to log on to the Playstation Network causing it to bog down. Then you have the issue of the blue ring of death which while it was in the news a lot only affected a very small percentage of the consoles out there, but didn’t help the consoles reputation. Then we look at the numbers, the PS4 has sold over 4.2 million consoles selling every single PS4 in stock making the PS4 the most sold console in the market at the moment; however, the Vita has done little to really gain any attention in the previous months. Even Playstation UK boss Fergal Gara has explained that the Vita is not one of the companies best selling products.

X-Box One

The X-Box One faced most of its issues before its release with the issues of the possible always online connection, and no pre-owned games. This was a very significant issue to the gamers, myself included who sometimes buys games off of friends, and has a poor internet provider for online gaming. Luckily those were changed, but it still had some effect on sales with players skeptic after all the negative press. The X-Box one still managed to sell almost 1 million consoles and over 600,000 X-Box 360’s in December. How you ask? Because of the price of the X-Box one microsoft makes more profit per console so it while it’s not selling as many it’s still making more money.

Wii U/3DS

The Wii U just had it rough all year with poor sales mainly due to a lack of games for the console. With games like Super Mario 3D world just coming out and games like Super Smash Brothers, X, Hyrule Warriors, and Mario Kart not coming out till next year gamers have not been motivated to purchase a Wii U till recently; however, the Wii U has had record sales last December due to all of the listed games coming out later this year.

The 3DS was the overall victor of the year achieving record sales in 2013 as the 3DS reached 11.5 million units sold in the U.S alone.  This has a lot to do with a nice blend of games you can buy such as Shin Megami Tensai 4, Project X Zone, Animal Crossing, Pokemon X/Y, Legend of Zelda Link Between Worlds, Mario and Luigi Dream Team, Luigi’s Mansion 2, and Fire Emblem Awakening. When everyone thought the 3DS was finished it blew everyone away with the onslaught of amazing games in 2013.

So as you can see gamers everywhere can celebrate a successful year in 2013. Sony selling the most consoles, Microsoft with the highest console profit, and Nintendo with the most hardware sells all the major gaming companies have something to brag about; however, with most of this news happening towards the end of the year what does that mean for the gaming industry in 2014? It looks like another wonderful year ahead of us if things continue as they are.

Nintendo is considering mergers

Nintendo

Nintendo Considering Mergers

Iwata has mentioned to investors that Nintendo is considering future mergers in order to evolve the company and the franchise. By acquiring new first party games and working with third party companies Nintendo has a chance to change things for the better.

Iwata had this to say. “Nintendo has undergone continuous changes over years, moving from Hanafuda playing cards to video games, and offering newer systems like the Wii. But we’ve been preoccupied with a fixed idea of what a game should be like. The game industry is at a turning point amid new developments like the rise of smartphones.”

So it’s hard to say where Nintendo will go next, but with the inclusion of characters like Sonic, Snake, and Megaman in Super Smash Brothers it is possible we could see Nintendo evolve and add some of these characters to their roster.

Game Boy Advance games to be added to Nintendo E-Shop

Game_Boy_Advance

Nintendo working on adding Game Boy Advance games to E-shop

With the E-shop players can purchase downloadable games to add to their system, and it works as a great way to get your hands on older games for newer consoles. Hopefully soon we can see some of the great Game Boy Advance games on e-shop, but as of this moment Nintendo is still working on it.

Because Nintendo does not put recent games like DS games on the e-shop we shouldn’t expect that to change soon, but now that the Game Boy Advance games are unplayable in this generation now is a great time to be adding them so players can still enjoy some of the old favorites like Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, Golden Sun, and of course Mario.

Virtual Battle damage valued at $200,000

EVE-Online

Virtual Battle damages worth $200,000

Eve Online experienced its biggest battle yet with damages valued at $200,000. EVE Online is an online game where players can make their own fleet of starships and send them into battle to form alliances, claim territories, and battle against people all over the world. Players use the games currency, ISK, in order to purchase ships to sent into battle. Players also have to pay a monthly fee in order to continue playing this game.  You can either pay the fee with your own money or use some of your ISK. Using this information it was possible to determine that $1 is roughly 4 million ISK.

The largest ship in the game is the Titan which can cost around 222 billion ISK, which translates to $5,500. 75 of these ships were destroyed in yesterdays battle which makes it easy to see how this battle has such a costly price tag.

But why did this battle happen.  Apparently someone missed a payment so that freed up a section in the game which could be taken by other players. Major groups in the game rushed over to secure the open section and battled furiously in order to take it. Over 4,000 players participated in this battle and it was easily the largest and most brutal battle in the game’s history.  Eventually the battle ended and someone won, but at a large cost to their fleet. Now all the combatants struggle to restore their fleets to their former glory as they have to build up their material and ISK to make their ships all over again.
